The idea behind the six degrees of separation is simple: If a person is one step or relationship away from each individual he or she knows and two steps away from each person who is known by one of the individuals he or she knows, then everyone on Earth is six relationships or less away from each other, so I'm putting it to the test....

I've had to make an unexpected trip to Trinidad to see my mother who had to have emergency surgery. She is in a stable but serious condition to date. In the course of my short stay I've had the opportunity to see lot's of family and old friends who have come to the hospital to visit. And I have come to realize that though years have passed and situations have changed that we still all have great commonality in faith... I remember looking on CNN as the Berlin Wall came down; facinated because I never imagined I would witness the end of The Cold War that way. Actually it was the beginning of the end of the Cold War, but I was present (unnuked) in this moment of history. Now there seems to be a new Cold War developing; this time not between superpower nations but within THE only superpower nation. Yep, you betcha, as SP would say right here in the good ole USA.... And God said 'Let there be...' I'm sure you had those moments when you've come across a new word, thought or idea and it then pops up everywhere. Well that happened recently with my experience of 'Chaos'; which comes despite all our best efforts to keep things orderly. The effects of unemployment especially in this economy have begun to weigh heavily on me and my family and I find myself struggling in a rough sea and experience anxiety over unpaid bills, looming commitments, postponed retirement and an unsettled future. That's Chaos... Anybody out there? My Space, Twitter, Face Book, LinkedIn, My Life, Tagged! Everyone's cyber networking whether it is socially, educationally or career related. One or two sites were cool in the beginning but now we have a proliferation of these social networking sites, everyone has a profile set up somewhere, a picture posted and tells the whole world what they are doing. Everyone's life is an open book. Or is it?... Storm in a teacup O…ba…ma, Obama, Obama. There I said it…now half the viewers will continue reading and half will click off, swearing never to come back to this site. That’s how sadly this country is divided. It started with Clinton (Dem), then Bush Lite (Rep), and now Obama (Dem): how the pendulum swings. The new President barely six months in power is under both spotlight and microscope like none before. Let’s take the latest ‘tempest in a tea cup’: the Gates/Crowley episode.... I bought this stone last year at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia. I was on a canonical retreat along with my (then) fellow candidates for ordination to the diaconate. It was a time of much personal confusion for me,... |
Hi, welcome to my weekly blog. I'm deacon Michel and I love blogging and the healthy exchange of constructive ideas. Now my mind has been known to wander on a million different things all at once so don't be surprised at what you find here. I often scratch my head and go 'Huh?' at my own thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts with me.
DisclaimerThis blog reflects MY ongoing Christian journey: insights gained through the Holy Spirit, my experiences, my studies, my relationships. The content of this website is solely that of Deacon Michel du Chaussee, and does not represent the Archdiocese of Miami or any other entity of the Roman Catholic Church in any official capacity. Needless to say, I hope that none of my writings are contrary to the doctrines of faith and morals that are reflected in Sacred Tradition or as taught and guarded by the Magisterium of the Church or to the truths of God as revealed in the Holy Scriptures.
