Well, all the presents are wrapped, holiday foods prepared, tree & decoration complete. It is Christmas Eve. Right now I thinking about Mass tonight and not without some apprension over singing the Gospel tonight. But no matter how it comes out, I'll be proclaiming it with Joy!.. This is Christmas and I feel sory for those who think it is just some winter holiday. Trees, presents, lights and decorations are external reflections of what we feel inside: peace, joy and most importantly, love. It is why we give and think of giving. Just look at what happens when the holidays are over and winter continues. Snow and ice are just not as celebratory in January and beyond as the are in December. No this is a celebration of Christ: His incarnation, death & resurrection. Take that away and I guarantee that no amount of Santa Clauses and Jingle Bells can recreate the feeling.
Now over the years Christmas has been commercialized to a point where its true meaning has been obscured but this recession might have hidden blessings if we have come to realize what is really important: Christmas Presence not christmas presents. I sincerely hope that while there may be less gifts under the tree that there will be more laughter in your home, more sharing of food, life and love around your table. That is Christmas. So God bless you all: celebrate, enjoy, be safe, be well. Isaiah 9:5-6 For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. 6 His dominion is vast and forever peaceful, From David's throne, and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustains By judgment and justice, both now and forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this! Merry Christmas!

Hi, welcome to my weekly blog. I'm deacon Michel and I love blogging and the healthy exchange of constructive ideas. Now my mind has been known to wander on a million different things all at once so don't be surprised at what you find here. I often scratch my head and go 'Huh?' at my own thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts with me.
