Wednesday 1st week of Lent

In this election year every candidate and wannabe undergoes tremendous scrutiny and rightly so. No exception for the billionaires who give it a go. One such candidate spent half a billion dollars only to come out short and immediately a chorus arose as to how he should have spent his money: the poor, hunger, clean up Michigan's water etc. All noble causes indeed even though they also ignore to point out that he has already given over $8 billion through his philanthropic foundation.
That aside, I get the idea that some believe that the Christian mandate to feed the hungry, take care of the widow and orphan and to help those need is for the rich only. Certainly they can do more but whether you earn a billion or a buck the responsibility to the poor is the SAME.

Do we have giving hearts and open arms or do we look and judge as 'lazy', 'unambitious', 'drug addicts' and bums and withhold our aid? Do I even think about the poor at all

"Whatever you do do for the least of my people that you do into me" does not single out the rich but speaks to all of us. Lent calls us to be generous.

Peace
Brothers and sisters: Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

The Season of Lent is a special time for us to slow down, look inward and make the necessary changes to truly become an Easter people.

As I pray and meditate the daily Scriptures for Lent I am humbled by the mercy of our God and I hope that my sharing with you helps you to deepen your walk with Christ as we journey with him.

    Peace
