Brokeness. I've experienced it on a recent trip to Trinidad during which I had time to attend a prayer meeting there and having the opportunity to pray for so many wonderful people who came forward with various degrees of 'brokeness'...
...I've experienced it here in the U.S. at a healing service I conducted with a small church gathering last week, and also at a healthcare facility that I visit regularly and it seems that physical ailments are the least concern; there is a greater malaise, an emptiness, that resides in the heart, deep in the core of being that is sucking the life of all people.
This is the 21st Century, a time when, in my long past youthful fantasies, cars would fly, everything would be automated, all disease would be conquered and life would be euphoric - a la Jetsons. There should not be any 'brokeness' but the harsh reality is that there is: some of it resides in me!
So I don't have a flying car but there is something else that resides deep within me that scatters the darkness; it is the light of HOPE in Christ Jesus. He whom I know personally and who has brought me over, under, around or through every obstacle I've faced as I walk life's path. Once when I was so downtrodden a friend gave me a shirt with the following on it: "You'll never know Jesus is all you need, until Jesus is all you have". It changed my life and I am a witness to that. The Gospel (Good News!) never ends on Calvary, the stone is always rolled away!!
I am a better minister, husband, father, son and human being today because of that 'brokeness' although I couldn't see it then. In my 'brokeness' I've come to know Christ thus enabling me to share Him with you. Now allow Him to shine on, in and through you. Keep the flame going. Peace.
