London 2009

I've always liked England, after all my birth country was a British Colony until  1962. Eva and I had a chance to visit in June 2009 for her niece's wedding and also had a little time to do the 'tourist' thing. London is facinating because of the preservation of its rich history and culture. Yet London is modern with glass towers rising sometimes incongruously over stone and ancient brick. Tea, scones and fish 'n' chips stand alongside Big Macs, african, european, middle eastern, and asian cuisine to cater for and satisfy any craving. Indeed London is truly more cosmopolitan than pluralistic. A 'brit' once asked me what I thought of London and as someone from the 'islands' I couldn't resist replying tongue-in-cheek "I find the natives are so friendly". That earned me a strange look but then again what's new?
