I am but one of billions that have been tranfixed by this event that occurs every four years: namely the FIFA World Cup. I have intensely followed teams through qualifying rounds, seen my hopes rise and crash with the success and failures of my favorite team. I have followed the team through the opening rounds and the elimination rounds, suffering no small amount of anxiety during this period of 30 days; one glorious month every four years. Like I said I am but one of billions...

The Gulf Oil Spill has been an unfolding drama since April 20th. First there is the tragic loss of human life and then of course is the domino effect of the envronmental damage which endangers fish, fowl & flora and pollutes pristine beaches, which keeps tourists away, which has a negative impact on economies already ravaged by the worst economic downturn since the Great Depressionof the 1930s, which means trouble for you, me and this chunk of our tiny planet.
