Properly stamped passport
I enjoy traveling to other countries. Don't do it as much as I would like but I enjoy visiting the many varied destinations on our wonderful planet Earth. Of course to travel to another country there are certain requirements that must be met: the traveler usually must have a valid passport and visa.....

Out of the Depths
I've been following the saga of these Chilean miners since the discovery that they were still alive 17 days after the collapse of the mine. When the reports came that they may not be able to be rescued  until December  I  kind of felt that I was suffocating with the idea of being trapped underground for so long....

The Real World Cup
I am but one of billions that have been tranfixed by this event that occurs every four years: namely the FIFA World Cup. I have intensely followed teams through qualifying rounds, seen my hopes rise and crash with the success and failures of my favorite team. I have followed the team through the opening rounds and the elimination rounds, suffering no small amount of anxiety during this period of 30 days; one glorious month every four years. Like I said I am but one of billions...

"Do you love me is usually the first question followed by the more difficult to answer "why?"  I've done it and I'm sure you've done it too...

Gulf Oil Rig Fire
The Gulf Oil Spill has been an unfolding drama since April 20th. First there is the tragic loss of human life and then of course is the domino effect of the envronmental damage which endangers fish, fowl & flora and pollutes pristine beaches, which keeps tourists away, which has a negative impact on economies already ravaged by the worst economic downturn since the Great Depressionof the 1930s, which means trouble for you, me and this chunk of our tiny planet.

Empty Tomb
For some 15 weeks we celebrated the Holy seasons of Lent and Easter; reflecting, repenting, celebrating the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord. But now that the season is over does that mean that the Easter message is shelved until next year?...

Old tin can
There are those beautiful moments when I cooperate with the Holy Spirit and the light goes on! He'll open my memory to allow me to see how he was present and operating in my life even as a child and those seeds planted then were to become important life lessons for today. here's one of them...

Smoking or Non-Smoking?
"Where do you want to sit in Eternity: Smoking or Non-Smoking?" the sign outside the church asked.  Cute, no, a very clever slogan actually. It made me smile but more importantly it made me think: smoking or non smoking...

Haiti: The cry of a hurting humanity 02/22/2010

In 1988, calypsonian David Rudder of Trinidad & Tobago wrote a song called 'Haiti I'm Sorry'.  A strange topic for that time since Haiti did not become a full member of CARICOM until 1999, and final accession was only ratified by the Haitian Parliament on 13 May 2002. Then - President Aristide signed the revised Chaguaramas Treaty on 4 July 2003, and trade between Haiti and the other countries of the region officially began on 1 January 2004, only to be suspended that year and reinstated in 2006. But nevertheless Rudder the chantuelle proved to be a  prophet for our times...

Hi, welcome to my weekly blog. I'm deacon Michel and I love blogging and the healthy exchange of constructive ideas. Now my mind has been known to wander on a million different things all at once so don't be surprised at what you find here. I often scratch my head and go 'Huh?' at my own thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts with me.

    Disclaimer

This blog reflects MY ongoing Christian journey: insights gained through the Holy Spirit, my experiences, my  studies, my relationships. The content of this website is solely that of Deacon Michel du Chaussee, and does not represent the Archdiocese of Miami or any other entity of the Roman Catholic Church in any official capacity. Needless to say, I hope that none of my writings are contrary to the doctrines of faith and morals that are reflected in Sacred Tradition or as taught and guarded by the Magisterium of the Church or to the truths of God as revealed in the Holy Scriptures.
For I take seriously what a very wise man has often said to me:
